May 2026 Update

Newsroom | May 2026 Update

TMA continues to bring together experienced professionals to share practical insights, support better outcomes and help businesses navigate periods of uncertainty and change.

Today, TMA Education Day is taking place across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, with members coming together for practical, experience-led discussions developed by members, for members. A special thank you to the TMA Education Sub-Committee and representatives from each State Committee who contributed their time, insight and expertise to develop this year’s sessions.

Alongside Education Day, this month also sees the launch of the 2026 Case Competition and a strong calendar of events and member engagement activities taking place across the country.

Stay informed and connected with the latest updates from across the TMA community below.

Education Day

Our Education Day is happening on Thursday this week, and panelists for all cities have now been announced. We are privileged to have these experts share their real-world experience and guide our discussions. This is also a prime opportunity to connect with peers across the sector.

2026 Case Competition

TMA Australia and Allegro Funds are pleased to present the 2026 Turnaround Case Competition. This is a dynamic opportunity to build and apply turnaround skills, allowing you to take the lead on a pitch typically reserved for senior colleagues.

Teams will prepare an investment recommendation, deal structure, and turnaround plan for a company facing real-world challenges. You may enter as a team of five or as an individual (we can assist with team allocation). The winning team will be awarded a prize and recognised at the National Conference. NT Port and Marine Webinar

In March our SA members were lucky to attend an event offering a practical, behind-the-scenes look at the restructuring of NT Port and Marine Pty Ltd (NTPM)— a finalist in the 2025 TMA Restructuring Deal of the Year Awards.

TMA Members can now watch the event video, where Ben Renfrey (Johnson Winter Slattery), Travis Anderson (Deloitte); Justice Natalie Charlesworth and Genevieve Sexton (Arnold Bloch Leibler) discuss the commercial realities, legal complexity and judgment calls that mattered most.
