TMA Australia recognises excellence through its annual awards program, which identifies the most successful turnarounds and restructuring deals industry wide.

The Awards

Turnaround of the Year

Recognises those involved with a successful operational turnaround of an organisation that leads to sustainable, and measurable improvements in profits and cash flows. Operational turnaround includes actions taken to improve revenues, reduce costs, reinforce management, improve working capital and cash management, refocus an organisation etc.

Turnaround entries must be submitted in one of the categories listed below. The Awards Committee may re-categorise an entry should another category be more appropriate or advantageous.

Small Company

Company revenue at onset of turnaround was less than $50 million

Mid-Size Company

Company revenue at onset of turnaround was $50 million to $299 million

Large Company

Company revenue at onset of turnaround was over $300 million

Restructuring Deal of the Year

Recognises those involved with a successful financial restructuring of an organisation. Financial restructuring mainly relates to a transaction involving a refinancing or restructuring of a capital structure, merger, acquisition, debt and/or equity transactions that lead to an appropriate recapitalisation of a stressed or distressed organisation.

Emerging Turnaround Professional of the Year

Recognising rising talent in turnaround and restructuring.

This award celebrates an early-career professional who is making an exceptional contribution to the turnaround industry. Nominations can be self-submitted or submitted by a colleague.

Award Conditions and Entry Guidelines

  • Each nominee must be a current TMA Australia member in good standing at the time of submission. TMA membership is held on an individual basis.
  • For project-based categories, the company must be stable and generating positive operational cash flow at the time of submission.
  • The turnaround must be substantially completed by 30 June 2025.
  • Entries must include a written summary and a 1–3 page case study, as outlined in the relevant category entry form.
  • You may also submit one optional supporting attachment (max 3 pages) if you wish to provide additional context or evidence.
  • Acceptable materials include: internal reports, media clippings, testimonials, brochures, awards, or letters of support.
  • Multimedia files and web links will not be accepted.
  • Entries will be reviewed by a panel that reflects the diversity and breadth of the TMA Australia membership.
  • All entries are assessed on their individual merit. The committee reserves the right not to select a winner in a category if no submission meets the required standard.
  • The committee may also re-categorise entries if they consider an alternative category to be more appropriate.
  • All entries must be received by Friday, 29 August 2025.
  • Late, incomplete, or non-compliant entries will not be considered.
  • No extensions or exceptions will be granted.
  • Finalists will be notified prior to the event.
  • TMA will shortlist three finalists per category, from which one winner will be selected.
  • Information provided in the entry may be used by TMA to create promotional content before, during, and after the Conference - including LinkedIn posts, case studies, media articles, and other campaign materials.
  • Short video interviews may also be conducted with key individuals involved in the project or nomination. These will be used at the Conference and shared online as part of a 12-month promotional campaign.
  • Award recipients are asked to refrain from issuing press releases until after TMA’s official announcement.
